This 22 year old country singer, Janelle Arthur, recieved her golden ticket to the next round during Hollywood Week on American Idol February 13th, Wednesday night. Performing the Hank Willianms classic ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry’ to universal praise from the judges.
Arthur first impressed the judges when she auditioned the first time in Charlotte, singing Keith Urban's, ‘Where the Blacktop Ends.’ This time around Nikki Minaj told her, ”I think you are really, really special, and you already seem like a star.”
This is Arthur’s third time on American Idol. She made it to Hollywood Week in 2010, and last year she made it to the Las Vegas rounds before being cut. On Wednesday night she performed one of country’s most timeless songs in a strong, polished rendition that demonstrated the power of her voice while still staying true to the simplicity of the music, easily winning her way to the group rounds.
Arthur has been rumored to be one of the singers who makes it through to the Top 40 in this year’s audition rounds.
